Meet Monica Powers, a PCA, in the Springfield region!
“I have worked for Phoenix since the end of December 2020.
“It took me years of working for several people to keep pointing out that I love to help people. I always read about medicine and healthy ways of eating and exercising. So after 11 years working grocery and retail, I decided to give health care a try.”
“I love learning and I love a challenge. I went to a summer class for CNA. Six months after that I did 1000 hours and went on to get my Qualified Medication Aide License. I started my classes for nursing after that. I had a surprise pregnancy and another. So nursing had been put on the back burner so to speak.”
“Outside of work I have 4 wonderful kids. A son (21), a daughter (17), a daughter (4) and son (2). I love spending time with them. I love hosting get together with my in laws. I’ve been trying several new recipes. One other thing about me is I am from South Florida, and I love to swim.”
“I like my position here at Phoenix because I work facilities which means I get to see more than one client a day, but it still gives me more time than I would have with them if I were working in an assisted living or nursing home. In an assist living nursing home there is so many residents and so much to do that you cannot give them as much attention as you want because all the work will not get done.”
“Phoenix is a good choice because we work together as a big work family. I remember in my pre-orientation that the instructor said that, but I never take anyone’s work. I had to see for myself, and I did see that this is a good company to work for.”
“I have the best boss ever. She always is there when we need any kind of help. She is understanding and caring. She goes above and beyond. She knows what people need sometimes even before they know what they need. She works on our level, so her expectations are never unattainable. I really enjoy working with her.”
