Our clients and the public see our Phoenix team members on the front lines most often, our amazing field staff. We also want to shine a light on our wonderful Leadership team, who help keep many things running smoothly in the background at our offices. Meet Amber Williams, the Department of Mental Health Program Manager from our Springfield, MO office! She has been on our Phoenix team for over 2 years now.
We asked, “How does your role help support our clients/employees?“
Amber: ” I have the honor of helping Individuals with neurological differences live their best lives that they can possibly live by coming along their side daily to achieve their own personal goals and celebrate with them!”
Have you taken any Culture classes? Which one did you like best? (Culture classes are available to Phoenix employees and serve to enrich career and personal growth for our teams.)
A: ” Managing Conflict, Taking Flight, It’s up to me 23 & 24 and awarded “rising above for excellence””
Give us one piece of career advice.
A: ” Jesus teaches us to “LOVE others as he has loved us first.” I aim to embody this in all my actions and conversations, whether they are positive or negative, regardless of my mood on any given day. I make an effort to see things from others’ perspectives to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences. Everyone longs for love and understanding, so why not offer it! “
Who has been an important coworker/mentor in your career, and what did you learn from them?
A: ” Truly, it’s Jesus. He has consistently supported me, and I never feel lacking! I’ve discovered how to pray more meaningfully, not just for my own needs, but for the department, the employees I have the privilege to train and uplift, the families I am honored to serve, and the friends I’ve made during my time at Phoenix. I feel incredibly grateful for the chance to impact such a wonderful community.”
What is your favorite memory at Phoenix so far?
A: ” When I assisted Erenia in transporting all her belongings to her car (an open plate of food, a soda that was already opened, and her bag) on a rainy day (the poor thing had her hands completely full) while the wind was howling and the rain was pouring down rapidly. It was the first time I had used an umbrella since high school. That stubborn umbrella was trying to escape my grasp as I held it as tightly as I could with one hand while balancing her open soda and my bag with the other. The wind took full advantage of the situation, and the umbrella ended up hitting me right in the face. We burst into laughter, and everything got soaked, but we finally made it to her car, lol. It was the best memory I’ve had in a long time with such a wonderful friend.”
Give us a work motto to live by.
A: ” “Does what I’m about to say or do align with the person I’m trying to become?” “
What is one thing you can’t work without?
A: ” My music and prayer create the perfect atmosphere and set the tone for the day!”
What are two things on your bucket list?
A: ” I want to see the ocean! I’ve never had the opportunity to go. And the other I would say is making sure I raise my kiddos to the best of my abilities. I know I’m not perfect but, I want the best in this life for them. God has blessed me with being a mom and i never want to take advantage of that.”
Tell us a little about you.
A: ” I love music and singing, I love taking pictures of nature and spending time outdoors, I love being a mom and learning to be better than i was yesterday, I love to serve no matter what the case may be. if I’ve been blessed why not turn around and bless others around you, and I love feeling loved!”
Amber, we love your compassionate and kind heart, it truly shines through in all that you do each day. We’re lucky to have you on team Phoenix!
