Jeison Alexander Martínez Castro

Being born with albinism, Jeison Alexander Martínez Castro of La Yosa, San Ramón, inherently began having many health complications at a very young age. At the age of nine, Jeison’s most evident problem was his eye sight. This was a very serious problem for Jeison and his family because they did not have money to buy much needed medicines. Jeison’s parents waited until his eye sight was bad enough that it prohibited him from going to school to contact a Rainbow Network doctor. Rainbow Network immediately began helping support Jeison with medical exams and tests.

Once the cause of Jeison’s eye problems was known, Rainbow Network continued supporting Jeison by helping with all the legal documents for his eye surgery as well as the cost of the surgery itself. Jeison was overwhelmed with joy as his sight was restored and he could return to school. Many thanks are sent from Jeison and his family to Rainbow Network supporters as they say Jeison’s restored eyesight was a “miracle from God”.

On top of the excitement of Jeison’s health, the family feels blessed to benefit from other Rainbow Network programs that have allowed the family to start a business and earn an education. Jeison’s sister, who also has albinism and problems with her eyes, is now receiving help with exams and tests to see if surgery is needed. All of this is thanks to God and Rainbow Network supporters.
