End-of-Life care meets physical, spiritual, and emotional needs

End-of-life care meets physical, spiritual, and emotional needs

Hospice services provide clients and their families the dignity, compassion, and continuity of care they deserve when facing end-of-life healthcare decisions.

Although hospice does not give us the power to shorten or prolong life, this compassionate service gives us the power to choose how we live.

Ordered by a physician, hospice services help those with life-limiting conditions who wish to focus on symptom and pain management in the comfort of home, instead of continuing or pursuing treatment. Hospice services are available for children and adults.

Hospice Services

What does the hospice care benefit include?

Your private duty caregiver quickly familiarizes themselves with your family member’s condition, limitations, and capabilities. Your caregiver also builds a trusting relationship with you and your loved one, and treats them kindly and compassionately.

Hospice is a new beginning and the power to choose how to live out the rest of one’s life. When a person says yes to hospice, they are saying:

  • I want to have my care provided in the comfort of my home.
  • I don’t want to have to go to the hospital or ER again.
  • I want to have someone help me live without pain and discomfort.

If you or your loved one has experienced the following, it may be time to consider hospice care at home:

  • Uncomfortable symptoms that have responded poorly to treatment
  • Progressive weight loss
  • Loss of speech
  • Confusion
  • Frequent hospitalizations
  • Multiple infections in a short time
  • Wounds that are not healing
  • Falls
  • Significantly decreased intake of nutrition
  • Frequent changes in medication
  • Difficulty breathing at rest or with oxygen
  • Loss of interest in activities
  • Not sleeping due to symptoms
  • Going through a terminal disease process you don’t receive treatment for

Medicare and Medicaid provide 100% coverage for hospice care services. Most private insurance includes some coverage for the hospice benefit. The Phoenix Hospice team works directly with you and your physician to create an individualized plan of care that will meet your needs and help you live the way you choose.

GIP is needed when a patient requires a higher level of care in hospice for managing uncontrollable pain and/or acute or chronic symptoms.

The primary goal for GIP is to control severe, hard-to-manage symptoms on a short-term basis. Phoenix serves as your partner to determine eligibility and ensure you or a loved one receives general inpatient hospice when needed.

Hospice pamper care is just one way that Phoenix provides exceptional care to every patient, every time. We don’t believe in doing just what is expected. We take the opportunity to do a little extra:

  • Curling and blow-drying hair
  • Premium bathing products
  • Nail polish for fingers and toes
  • Individualized self-care routines
  • Massage therapist (dependent on availability)
