Meet Ann-Kio Nelson! Ann-Kio has been with Phoenix since August working with Private Duty Care clients.
“I was born and raised in the Islands and didn’t move here to the mainland till I was about 8 years old where I had to learn how to speak English. I am a mother to a 5-year-old going on 30. I married my best friend that is an officer in the military so we move around A LOT! I have been a caregiver for about 14 years and I LOVE every bit of it! I have a passion for what I do because even if it’s just putting a smile on someone’s face, I know I’m making a difference because you never know what someone’s going through. I hope to finish my nursing degree. I love to cook, dance, write and host game nights.”
Ann-Kio’s coordinator, Kelly, stated, “Ann-Kio has done amazing things in the short time she has been with Phoenix. She took off for Thanksgiving week and the week before that she spent her time cooking a Thanksgiving meal for each one of her clients. She said she was amazed at the smiles on their faces when she did so. She took a client to Jefferson City for a doctor’s appointment and on the way, they stopped at a small Cafe to eat Breakfast, he couldn’t believe she did this for him without hesitation. All of her client’s brag on her, they all feel a special connection with her and enjoy when she is at their homes. She works with VA clients and most aren’t in perfect health, she has watched clients decrease in Health and still cares for them as if it was the first day that she met them. She is always encouraging exercise and even does it with them! She walks around the block with her clients if that is what they want to do so that they aren’t doing it alone and risking a fall”.
