We asked Elysia, What gives you the passion to do what you do?
E: “Knowing that I can help people with what they’re going through, even if it’s just taking stuff off their plate so they can focus on their health.”
Why Home Care & Phoenix?
E: “I’ve wanted to work in health for a long time, and this company always seemed like one that cares and supports both helpers and those they help.”
What would you tell others contemplating working at Phoenix Home Care and Hospice?
E: “If you think you may want to join, you need to have a passion for helping people and patience as well. One big thing is that if you don’t love what you do, it shows in how you do it. Another thing to remember is that people aren’t always going to have the best day ever, so they deserve a bit of grace.”
What does the X Factor mean to you? (the X Factor is the personal and professional abilities of our staff to use their experience, orientation to serve, skill set, optimism, passion & honesty to bring the best care to our clients and their families.)
E: “To me, the X Factor comes down to compassion and patience. You have to want to be there for people while they’re going through a difficult time, and the patience to understand that help isn’t always big gestures, sometimes it’s something as simple as taking the stress of doing laundry off their hands.”
Tell us a little about yourself.
E: “I have a cat named Franklin, whom I love a lot. Outside of work I enjoy writing, weight-lifting and reading. Currently I’m working through the Wicked Years series.”
