Meet Beverly Gouty, RN! Beverly is a nurse for our Springfield Private Duty Nursing team. She shares her love for working with PDN clients. We are so honored to have Beverly at Phoenix Home Care & Hospice.
“I have always had the desire to become a nurse from the time I was very little. I decided to pursue my dream only after I became a widow and was left with three young boys. I wanted them to have a good life and to be able to provide for them, so I started on the pathway to nursing. I love helping and taking care of people in need. Making an impact on someone’s life can be very rewarding and yet, also be a very humbling experience. I love working in PDN, because I love children and you can share with them from the beginning of their journey and what is ahead of them, such as growth, development and milestones. If I can make a positive difference in people’s lives, then I have accomplished my goal.”
“I have worked in many fields of nursing, but never on an individualized one-on-one basis. As a nurse, I don’t think you ever walk away at the end of a shift without thinking to yourself, “I wish that I had more time to spend with the patients” or the feeling of not being adequately staffed and how it affects patient care. Home health care seemed to be the solution. In this way, I could devote all my time and energy into one individual and give them specialized care. I transferred to Phoenix from another HHC agency 6 years ago, after the encouragement of several co-workers that also transferred there. This is one of the best choices that I have ever made.”

“A nurse becomes an important link in the family of special needs children. They have an impact on family which is demonstrated through, trust, compassion and commitment to strive to improve the quality of care, safety and ongoing communication. You become an educator, but you also need to listen to their needs. Each client is unique and a plan of care is formed specific to them. A close bond is established with the client and their family, that you are many times considered a part of their family. You are right there beside them all the way from experiencing the struggles and difficult times, as well as the happiest moments.”
