Every once in a while, something very special happens. Something extraordinary, that many times goes unnoticed. We would like to share that something special as we honor our latest Nurse of the Month.
Kathy Gloden has worked for Phoenix since 2017! She is dependable, quietly going to work and faithfully caring for her client, Erin. She not only works diligently caring for Erin’s physical and medical needs but goes the extra mile to care for her holistically. This is where the magic happened.
Erin had a dream of being an author. She had a story to tell and wanted to write a book, but did not have the ability to do it by herself. Kathy, her night nurse, saw the opportunity to help with Erin’s dream. She encouraged Erin’s dream and suggested they start writing her book. That’s when “Princess Miracle” was started. Night after night, for the next two years, Erin would tell Kathy the Story, and Kathy would type it out, making the requested revisions and changes as the story unfolded. Erin wanted it to be just right, able to inspire all and Kathy wanted to help her. Erin’s imagination was filled with a secret to be discovered, a princess to be empowered and a battle to be won. Night after night, for two years, Kathy typed it all until it was finished. She then quietly went on with Erin’s next project. This in itself would have been exceptional and it may have been where the story ended, but it didn’t… Phoenix Home Care and Hospice is not only a place for New Beginnings, but a community of people who genuinely care about each other and get excited about their dreams. Phoenix’s Springfield office caught wind of the book and raised enough funds to get it published. Kathy came with Erin and celebrated her published book, “Princess Miracle,” with her family, Phoenix Phamily, and friends on July 18th, 2024 with a book signing and news spot on KOLR 10. Kathy’s sweet spirit and servant’s heart made Erin’s dream come true.
Today, we celebrate Kathy as she continuously lives out the Principles of our Phoenix Flight Culture. She Delivers Our Mission, faithfully Serves Others (her little patients), and Creates and is Present in special Moments.
