Meet Maelyn, a Personal Care Attendant from our Joplin, MO region!
We asked her, “What gives you the passion to do what you do?” She said, “The joy that comes from helping others. Every day is something different, and you get to celebrate the little victories. I work specifically with kids, and seeing their growth and the smiles on their faces is so fulfilling.”
When we asked, “Why Home Care & Why Phoenix?” she told us, “Home Care allows you to make a real difference in people’s lives. Helping others stay independent and comfortable in their own homes is rewarding. It combines caring for others with building meaningful connections, which is something I really value. Phoenix is inclusive and flexible. They truly care and value their employees.”
We asked, “What would you like to tell others contemplating working at Phoenix Home Care & Hospice?” Her response was, “I would tell them to go for it! Phoenix gives you so many opportunities and the work community is amazing. Again, Phoenix truly cares about both the employees and clients, and always has their best interests in mind. It is a very rewarding place to work.”
Of our X Factor (an important element of our unique Phoenix values), Maelyn says, “The X-Factor is very important. As a caregiver or nurse, having the experience and the passion to do your job is essential. You have to have the drive, the compassion, and the honesty to serve others in the best way possible. Putting your client first and making sure their best interest is on your mind is what makes you successful.”
Outside of work, Maelyn tells us, “I go to Crowder [College] part time to become an OTA. I love traveling and spending time with the people closest to me. I devote a good amount of my time to serving at Camp Barnabas, which is a camp for individuals with special needs. Barnabas is my home away from home! I love cats, music, and relaxation.”
