Meet Shelby, a Hospice LPN from our Independence, MO region!
We asked, “What gives you the passion to do what you do?” Shelby replied, “I grew up and my mother was a nurse. I could see the impact she made in others from the outside looking in. Nursing naturally comes to me. We get to be the last thing a human gets to see, smell, and feel at times in hospice, vulnerable but rare moments and that is a honor. You can’t teach compassion and that is what I pride myself to have for others.”
When we asked her, “Why Home Care & Why Phoenix?” she said, “When I started at Phoenix it was a place I knew at that time in my life I fit in, like a family. Changes and challenges thru the years but hospice is my home.❤️”
In response to “What would you like to tell others contemplating working at Phoenix Home Care & Hospice?”, Shelby replied with, “I would say we welcome anyone who is ready to come join our crazy fun crew! We have a lot of strong independent nurses that are willing to teach, we do not eat our young like some. We learn from each other and help when needed and pull together like a team/family do. You won’t regret it.”
Outside of work, Shelby is a loving mother of two wonderful children, a boy and a girl. She is also happily engaged! She went on to say, “We are happy flag football starts soon! I play coed league softball weekly. Between work, school, and sports we are a busy family! Always looking for new fun and a challenge. We travel as much as we can, recently returned from Colorado. Fall is my favorite season! Ready for Halloween, football, and food!! Thank you for this nomination, much appreciated!”
We love your compassion and thoughtful approach with your clients, Shelby! Thank you for the dedication you put into each day! 🫶
